KCL provided coaching and mentorship support to select CLP clients to assist them in refining their branding and marketing strategies to enhance awareness and promote market access.  The entrepreneurs ranging from idea to growth stage businesses also benefited from technical training sessions addressing several areas of their business operations to enhance compliance, build capacity and subsequently unlock their potential to attract investors/ funding.

Climate Launchpad is the world’s largest green business idea competition whose mission is to unlock the world’s clean technology potential that addresses climate change. The competition creates a stage for such innovative ideas. Climate Launchpad is part of the entrepreneurship offerings of Climate-KIC and the Kenya Climate Innovation Center.

The competition is a global community of innovators determined to address the negative impacts of climate change through entrepreneurship. In its 6th edition (2019), the competition attracted a total of 2,601 applications from cleantech entrepreneurs who applied for National competitions in 53 countries across Europe, Asia & Africa.

KCIC, the Africa region coordinator, hosted the first ever Africa Regional Finals in 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya. The competition attracted participants from 8 African countries i.e., Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cape Verde, South Africa, Ghana, Mozambique and Nigeria. In 2020, KCIC coordinated the virtual CLP Africa Regional competitions which attracted over 1000 applications from green innovators across the African continent.
